Certified Facilitators
Certified facilitators have undergone extensive training with Dr. Katz on the Three-Block Model of UDL. As such, they have permission to use copyrighted resources such as powerpoints, videoclips, handouts, sample units and student work, and have direct access to Dr. Katz and other members of the Manitoba Alliance for Universal Design for Learning (MAUDeL) to answer any questions and provide support. To be certified, facilitators must have:
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING CERTIFIED FACILITATORS ONLY TO PROVIDE YOUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. Any other individual may have little or no training in the Three-Block Model of UDL, cannot support you with appropriate resources, has not received consulting skills training related to the TBM, and will be breaking copyright.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT MONEY!
Dr. Katz makes no money from the work facilitators do, nor does she require certification fees from them. This is SOLELY about ensuring QUALITY AND INTEGRITY in the professional development provided.
Level one facilitators are certified to provide professional development to educators in all roles, K-12.
Level two facilitators are certified to "train the trainer" - that is, to instruct facilitators.
- Attended six weeks of intensive coursework or the equivalent
- Have practiced the model in their own class/role for a minimum of two years
- Observed Dr. Katz presenting, co-presented with her and/or been supervised in presenting workshops and courses
- Submitted letters of reference from participants in sessions they have facilitated.
- Passed a review process involving submitting a portfolio and completing an interview
- Developed and be currently maintaining a professional growth plan related to the model
- Participated and continue to participate in ongoing PLC's to upgrade and update their knowledge
